New tropical depression forms east of PHL - NASA - Technology - GMA News Online - Latest Philippine News: "A weather satellite of the United States’ National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) spotted on Wednesday a new and potentially strong tropical depression in the Pacific Ocean that may make landfall in the Philippines.

NASA said the Joint Typhoon Warning Center “currently forecasts Tropical Depression 22W to make landfall by October 2nd in northern Luzon, Philippines, following in the footsteps of Typhoon Nesat (Pedring).

NASA's Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) satellite known as TRMM passed over tropical depression “22W" and the satellite’s precipitation radar instrument “measured rainfall happening throughout the storm from its orbit in space."
