SMBs prepare before its too late

For small and medium businesses, information is usually the most overlooked among all the assets, yet if information is lost or stolen, it could incur a significant amount in damages. This is exactly why in a press briefing last week, Symantec advised that businesses should protect their data "before its too late."

Businesses should be prepared for cyber attacks, natural disasters, and power outages. Files should be encrypted to prevent data theft. And in cases of computer breakdown due to power outages or natural disasters, be careful in disposing your hard drives and always back up your files. There are a number of data recovery service companies that could restore files from your broken hard disk. That is why it is important to encrypt your files, and think twice about disposing your hard disk as it might fall into the wrong hands.
