Wikipedia eyes India for language growth | Inquirer Technology: "MUMBAI—Wikipedia on Wednesday said it was banking on growth in the mobile phone sector and increased Internet access to boost content in Indian languages ranging from Hindi to Telugu.
The online encyclopedia currently has versions in more than 20 languages spoken in India, but the number of pages compared with English, and considering the size of India’s 1.2 billion population, is small.
“Today, we have 50-100 million Internet users and 700-800 million mobile users (in India),” Hisham Mundol, India programs consultant for the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation, told a news conference in Mumbai.
