Facebook is planning to build a multimillion-dollar server farm on the edge of the Arctic circle to house its computer servers, UK's The Telegraph reported.
Such a move will also mark the first time Facebook locates a server farm outside the US.
The Telegraph said the facility at Luleå town in northern Sweden - at the northern tip of the Baltic Sea, 62 miles south of the Arctic Circle, once completed, would use as much electricity as a town of 50,000 people.
"The climate will allow them to just use only air for cooling the servers," said Mats Engman, chief executive of the Aurorum Science Park.

Tech site Pocket-Lint.com reported Joe Belfiore, who is behind the look and feel of Windows Phone 7, confirmed the updated app is coming and will have new features.
"Confirming the news at Nokia World in London, Belfiore told the crowd in attendance that users will be able to deep link into the app to allow shortcut tiles on the Windows Phone 7 homepage," it said.

AVLS will be fully utilized in the traffic management of the NLEX during the exodus of people for the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day. Waterloo, Ontario-based Sandvine said such online streaming has risen dramatically over the past year to become the top network traffic in North America during the peak period of 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
What it calls real-time entertainment now accounts for 60 percent of all Internet traffic in the evening, up 10 percentage points from last year, according to the data it has aggregated from network service providers.
The majority of real-time entertainment (55 percent) is destined for game consoles, set-top boxes, smart TVs and mobile devices used at home, while only 45 percent goes to desktop and laptop computers, according to the report.
