Cyber-criminals kick off holiday season with malware, phish attacks - GMA News Online - The Go-To Site for Filipinos Everywhere: "Like Santa's elves, cyber-criminals are keeping busy during the holidays. But instead of toys, they are spreading malware and phish attacks.

A computer security firm listed a fake antivirus software, fake emails from banks and Trojans among the top 10 threats in November leading to December.

"Staying vigilant online—especially during the holiday shopping season—is key to not falling victim to scams or infecting a PC by clicking on malicious links or files,” GFI Labs senior threat researcher Christopher Boyd said on the GFI website.

In a laboratory in this Pacific Coast city, General Fusion physicists and engineers in bright red smocks are busy assembling an experimental reactor.

They hope to test a prototype in 2014 and eventually become the first to commercialize the technology, offering a safe, cheap, pollution-free and virtually inexhaustible source of energy.

PHL posts record PC shipments in Q3 - GMA News Online - The Go-To Site for Filipinos Everywhere: "In the third quarter of 2011, the Philippines recorded an increase of PC shipments for the third straight quarter to 498,000 units, according to research firm IDC.

The uptrend can be attributed to the portables segment which grew 13 percent from the previous quarter while total desktop shipments remained stagnant at 189,000 units."
